When exposed to specific allergens, individuals who are allergic to them tend to develop allergy symptoms.

Most commonly, the symptoms develop as a result of allergen specific IgE antibodies present in the circulation. However, not all allergies or symptoms associated with immuno-intolerance are IgE mediated. Other types of antibodies such as IgG and IgG4 may be associated with symptoms of intolerance.

SCAL offers testing for allergen specific IgE and IgG antibodies.

Please note:
The listing here is only a small sampling of the allergen testing that can be performed at SCAL. Testing for over 1000 allergens is available. The tests span a variety of categories for IgE and IgG. Categories include:

Drugs
Dust
Epidermals
Foods
Insects
Molds
Pollens (grasses, trees, weeds)
Occupational

Clients can select standard panels, custom panels or formulate individualized panels as needed. For details regarding availability of testing for a specific allergen or listing of testing for a particular category, please contact the Laboratory.
